The department of Aeronautical Engineering at M.A.M. School of Engineering was started in the year 2010. The present faculty strength is four and is headed by Dr.P.V.K. Perumal who has 38 years of experience in defence research, aircraft design and development, academic teaching which includes two years of post doctoral research at NASA Ames research centre. The department of Aeronautical Engineering at M.A.M. School of Engineering was started in the year 2010.
The department laboratories are furnished with highly relevant equipments. Aerodynamics laboratory and Aircraft structures laboratory are being established. The Aerodynamics laboratory consists of 300 x 300mm subsonic open circuit wind tunnel, water flow channel, Hele-shaw apparatus, blower with force balance and models of various kinds. The Aircraft structures laboratory consists of electrical strain gauge, strain indicator, hinged bar suspended by two wires, beam test setup, column test setup. Also well equipped production technology laboratory, strength of materials laboratory, Fluid mechanics and machinery laboratory and Thermodynamics laboratories are available. Spacious and well furnished class rooms exist in sufficient numbers. A modern digital library with sufficient collection of books and journals caters to the students' needs.
Guest Lectures have been arranged for subjects Thermodynamics, Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics and for CNC in Manufacturing Technology. The students association was started in August 2011 named as "FLYGARE". Association office bearers are selected from students to conduct and fulfill the needs of the students through this association. One day seminar was conducted on "Abrasives and Composites Materials". Management is giving sufficient support on transportation for industrial visits.
